Baked Creamy Mushroom Beef

Ingredients

  • 500g (1 lb) beef (sirloin or ground beef works well)
  • 2 cups mushrooms (sliced; button or cremini)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or cooking cream)
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (or Italian seasoning)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Set your oven to 180°C (350°F).

2. Cook the beef

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Cook until browned. Remove and set aside.

3. Sauté mushrooms & aromatics

  • In the same pan, melt butter.
  • Add onions → cook until soft.
  • Add garlic → cook 1 minute.
  • Add mushrooms → sauté until tender and slightly golden.

4. Make the creamy sauce

  • Pour in beef broth and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add cream and thyme.
  • Stir and cook until slightly thickened.

5. Combine

  • Return beef to the pan and mix well with the sauce.

6. Bake

  • Transfer everything into a baking dish.
  • Top with shredded cheese (and Parmesan if using).
  • Bake for 15–20 minutes, until bubbly and golden.

7. Serve

  • Garnish with fresh parsley.
  • Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.

💡 Tips

  • Add spinach for extra greens.
  • Swap beef with chicken for a lighter version.
  • For extra depth, add a splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce.
