Ingredients
- 500g (1 lb) beef (sirloin or ground beef works well)
- 2 cups mushrooms (sliced; button or cremini)
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup heavy cream (or cooking cream)
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme (or Italian seasoning)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Preheat oven
- Set your oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Cook the beef
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
3. Sauté mushrooms & aromatics
- In the same pan, melt butter.
- Add onions → cook until soft.
- Add garlic → cook 1 minute.
- Add mushrooms → sauté until tender and slightly golden.
4. Make the creamy sauce
- Pour in beef broth and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Add cream and thyme.
- Stir and cook until slightly thickened.
5. Combine
- Return beef to the pan and mix well with the sauce.
6. Bake
- Transfer everything into a baking dish.
- Top with shredded cheese (and Parmesan if using).
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
7. Serve
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
- Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
💡 Tips
- Add spinach for extra greens.
- Swap beef with chicken for a lighter version.
- For extra depth, add a splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce.
