Ingredients

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 (12 oz / ~330 ml) bottle or can of beer (any kind)
  • ¼ cup (60 g) melted butter

  1. Prepare the slow cooker
    • Line your slow cooker with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix the dough
    • In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour and beer.
    • Stir until just combined (don’t overmix—it should be sticky).
  3. Transfer to slow cooker
    • Spoon the dough into the prepared slow cooker and spread it evenly.
  4. Add butter
    • Pour the melted butter evenly over the top.
  5. Cook
    • Cover and cook on HIGH for 2–3 hours
    • Or LOW for 4–5 hours
    • Bread is done when firm and cooked through (a toothpick should come out clean).
  6. Optional crisp finish
    • For a crusty top, place the bread under a broiler (oven) for 3–5 minutes, if available.
