1. Prep the onions
- Slice onions thinly and separate into strands.
- Pat them dry with a paper towel (this helps crispiness).
2. Make the batter
- In a bowl, whisk together:
- Flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, pepper, and sugar.
- In another bowl:
- Beat the egg and mix with milk.

3. Add onions
