Ingredients

Main:

  • 450g elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

Boil the macaroni in salted water until just al dente. Drain and set aside. Avoid overcooking, as the pasta will continue to cook in the oven.

Step 2: Prepare the Cheese

In a large bowl, combine all shredded cheeses. Reserve about 1 cup for the top layer.

Step 3: Mix the Custard

In another bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, eggs, melted butter, and all seasonings until smooth.

Step 4: Assemble the Dish

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Grease a baking dish and add a layer of cooked macaroni. Sprinkle a generous layer of cheese, then repeat the layers until everything is used. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the top, allowing it to seep through the layers.

Finish with the reserved cheese on top.
