Apple Caramel Bombs

Apple Caramel Bombs

Crispy on the outside… gooey caramel on the inside. These Apple Caramel Bombs are the ultimate 3-ingredient dessert that tastes like a mini caramel apple pie!

Ingredients

  • 1 can biscuit dough (or crescent dough, but biscuit dough gives a rounder, puffier shape)
  • 1–2 crisp apples, peeled and diced (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith work best)
  • 12 soft caramel candies
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Why These Ingredients Work

Biscuit Dough

Biscuit dough is the secret to that golden, bakery-style puff. It seals perfectly around the caramel and apples, so the caramel stays molten and doesn’t leak out. Crescent dough works too—but won’t give the same rounded “bomb” effect.

Apples

Apples like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith stay firm and flavorful while baking. They balance the sweetness of the caramel and add a juicy bite inside.

Soft Caramels

Soft caramels melt into a silky, gooey center. Hard candies won’t melt the same—they crystallize instead of turning creamy.

Instructions

1. Prep the Apple Filling

  • Peel and dice your apple into small cubes.
  • Toss the cubes with cinnamon and sugar.
  • Set aside.

2. Flatten the Dough

  • Open your biscuit dough can.
  • Separate each biscuit and gently flatten it into a circle using your hands.

3. Build the Bombs

  • Place 1 tablespoon of diced apples in the center of each dough circle.
  • Add 1 caramel candy on top of the apples.
  • Pull the edges of the dough around the filling and pinch tightly to seal it.
  • Roll into a ball shape.

4. Brush & Bake

  • Place all bombs seam-side down on a parchment-lined tray.
  • Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with extra cinnamon sugar.
  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 13–16 minutes until golden brown.

5. Cool Slightly & Serve

Let them cool for 5 minutes. The inside will be molten caramel—wait a moment before biting!

Serving Ideas

  • Drizzle with caramel sauce
  • Dust with powdered sugar
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
  • Dip in melted chocolate

Tips for Success

  • Make sure the dough is fully sealed—press well.
  • If caramel leaks out, still delicious! But sealing prevents this.
  • Granny Smith apples give the best sweet/tart balance.
  • For extra indulgence, add a tiny cube of butter inside each bomb.
