Hot Fudge Pie (Rich, Gooey, Old-Fashioned Dessert)
This Hot Fudge Pie is every chocolate lover’s dream: a crackly top, a fudgy center that tastes like warm brownie batter, and a buttery crust that forms on its own as it bakes. It takes just a handful of pantry ingredients, but the result is a restaurant-quality, melt-in-your-mouth dessert that never lasts more than a few minutes on the table.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 stick butter, softened (1/2 cup)
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: 1/4 cup chocolate chips for extra fudge
Instructions
1. Preheat & Prepare
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish or line it with parchment for easy removal.
2. Mix the Wet Ingredients
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
3. Add the Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together:
- 1/2 cup flour
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- Pinch of salt
- Slowly fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture until a thick, glossy batter forms.
- If using, stir in chocolate chips.
4. Bake the Pie
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pie dish.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes.
- The top will look slightly cracked, the edges set, but the center will still be soft and fudgy — that’s exactly what you want.
5. Cool Slightly & Serve
- Let the pie cool for 10–15 minutes so it sets into the perfect gooey texture.
- Serve warm with:
- Vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream
- Hot fudge drizzle
- Fresh berries
Tips for the Best Hot Fudge Pie
- Don’t overbake — the center should stay molten.
- For extra richness, use dark cocoa powder.
- Add a pinch of espresso powder to deepen the chocolate flavor.
- Refrigerate leftovers and warm slices for 10–15 seconds in the microwave.
