Beef Liver and Onions recipe:
Ingredients:
500g beef liver, sliced
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp butter or oil
1 cup milk (for soaking liver)
Salt and black pepper (to taste)
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1 tsp paprika (optional)
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Soak the liver: Place liver slices in a bowl and cover with milk. Let soak for 30–60 minutes (removes bitterness and tenderizes).
2. Prepare onions: In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp butter/oil over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until golden and soft. Remove and set aside.
3. Cook liver: Drain and pat dry the liver slices. Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices. Add another tbsp of butter/oil to the skillet. Cook liver for 2–3 minutes per side (do not overcook).
4. Combine: Return onions to the skillet and cook together for another 2 minutes.
5. Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.
